About Steve Feeney

When Steve is not organising activities for cubs as part of the Celts' leadership team he spends his working time as a freelance cameraman and video producer. Steve has been involved in the 1st Winchester Scout Group since 1995 when his son was a cub. He has also held the position of Assistant District Commissioner for Cubs in the Winchester District but has decided that he prefers the "front line" role of Cub Scout Leader more.

The BIG EVENT

Please come along on Tuesday evening, 8.15pm in the hut to hear all about the plans so far for our BIG sponsored event which will really put our fundraising campaign on the map!  The event will be fun, exciting for everyone and has already attracted the attention of our local MP!

Could your company help us?

We have been promised money or help from Howdens, Premier Inns and Amey.  Companies are keen to help local causes especially if we can help with publicity for them (which we can).  Please consider whether your company or contacts of your company could help us in any way.  There’s no harm in asking!  If you need any more information before approaching a company contact Fiona.harwood@talktalk.net.  Please don’t delay – we are making our final planning decision in April and any additional money will help us immensely.

Help Make it happen!

We need two key volunteers – could one of them be you?

FUNDRAISING: Can you spare three hours per week to help write fundraising bids?  There are loads of opportunities to apply for funds but we need some help, otherwise we will start to miss out on money.  Please contact either Dave Kesby (david@kesbyco.com) or Fiona Harwood (Fiona.harwood@talktalk.net).

EVENT MANAGEMENT:  There is a BIG sponsored fundraising event planned for July.  We need someone to organise it!  This is going to be a really fun event with lots of logistics to sort out.  You will, of course, have support from the rest of the team. Please contact Dave Kesby (david@kesbyco.com).

Its not just about you giving your money.

We don’t just want to keep asking you for money.  Fiona Harwood is working hard to attract money from grants and also companies.  Unfortunately we have just been unsuccessful on a bid to pay for the roofing, but there is plenty more to go at.

Do you think your company would want to donate to this local cause?  Or match any fundraising that you do, making your donation work even harder?  If so PLEASE get in touch with Fiona on fiona.harwood@talktalk.net.

** If anyone has any spare time (probably about 3 hours a week) to help Fiona with the fundraising from companies and trusts she would REALLY like to hear from you!  Absolutely no previous experience or knowledge of fundraising is required.

Project News (28 Feb)

The project team is working hard to deal with issues that have arisen with our planning application.  There is currently a risk that these issues will affect the outcome of the application but hopefully they can be resolved.

Fund Raising News (28 Feb)

10% of our events fundraising target achieved from 1 event!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the 24 hour Games Marathon.  We had more young people than ever taking part and, once we’ve claimed the Gift Aid, we should make £2,200 – exactly 10% of the £22,000 we need to raise from fundraising events between now and September.  Well done all!  Have a look at the photos and videos on our website.
